In August the California Coastal Commission heard their Staff’s recommendation to approve the City of Long Beach’s LCP Amendment with modifications. BOMP agreed with the recommendations of the Coastal Staff and supported this LCP Amendment. The LCP Amendment was approved with a 10-1 vote by the Commission. Because the LCP Amendment application had modifications the City Council needed to accept the modifications at a hearing. Therefore, the City Council on 10/2 conducted a hearing and voted on whether to accept or decline the suggested modifications. Because these modifications captured the intent and already existing parameters in which the project as a whole was being held to, it was easy for the City Council to vote unanimously to support the acceptance of the modifications.
