We’ve been working with the City of Long Beach and California Coastal Commission staff over the past two years continually updating the Project in response to their feedback.

The CEQA process has been initiated and the Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was released for public comment in April 2016. The NOP and the Initial Study, which itemizes the environmental topics to be studied as part of the EIR, are available for public review at:

  • City Hall, 333 West Ocean Boulevard, 5th Floor
  • Long Beach Main Library, 101 Pacific Avenue
  • Online at: www.lbds.info/planning/environmental_planning/environmental_reports.asp

The City is preparing an Environmental Impact Report, and we are anticipating its release in Spring 2017. We are in the process of coordinating preparation of a number of technical studies, nature and extent of any contamination and if necessary, appropriate mitigation, all of which will be provided to the City.

In September 2016, Los Cerritos Wetlands, LLC and the LCWA entered into an Option Agreement.  The Agreement specifies, that ownership of the Synergy site will be transferred to the LCWA for management and operation of the wetlands, Visitor Center and trail, in exchange for the 5 acre LCWA site.

In November 2016, a draft of the Wetlands Restoration Plan was submitted to the Interagency Review Team (IRT) to formally initiate the mitigation bank process.

We are in the process of beginning our outreach to the community and environmental groups, and look forward to receiving that feedback.  We have held site tours with various groups and encourage any groups that would like to meet to learn more about the project to contact us.  We encourage you to visit our website often, as it will be continually updated with the most recent Project information. We are excited about this Project, and are looking forward to eventual restoration of the Los Cerritos Wetlands.
